About the Role:
This is a remote, hands-on writing and editing position focused on creating compelling communications for fundraising and donor engagement initiatives. You’ll serve as the primary writer and editor for a range of materials—from fundraising appeals and newsletters to alumni content and digital communications. The role offers significant independence, creative opportunity, and the chance to see your words drive real impact.
You’ll work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop clear, persuasive messaging that aligns with organisational priorities. This is a deadline-driven role that rewards strong project management, adaptability, and exceptional writing skills.
What You’ll Do:
Content Creation & Editorial Leadership:
• Write and edit fundraising appeals, alumni communications, annual reports, newsletters, event materials, and digital content
• Develop donor-focused messaging that supports engagement and institutional priorities
• Interview faculty, students, alumni, and donors to research and develop feature stories and impact narratives
• Maintain consistency of tone, voice, and messaging across all communications
• Edit and proof content to high standards of quality and accuracy
Messaging & Campaign Support:
• Partner with leadership to develop messaging for fundraising initiatives and campaigns
• Translate institutional priorities into clear, persuasive communications
• Support development of case statements and strategic messaging
Communications Planning & Coordination:
• Manage and maintain a communications calendar
• Coordinate content development timelines and ensure timely delivery
• Align messaging across different audiences and communication channels
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with design teams and external vendors to produce high-quality materials
• Ensure communications align with organisational brand standards
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional writing experience, including multi-channel content (print, digital, email) and audience-specific messaging
• Experience in a service-oriented role, working with both internal and external stakeholders
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write in multiple styles: journalistic features, persuasive fundraising copy, and marketing materials
• Strong understanding of how to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Docs
• Experience with CRM systems preferred
• Ability to learn new software platforms quickly
• Superior project management and organisational skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Some evening and weekend availability may be required for events
