About the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Entry Writer to join our customs brokerage team. This role is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate import documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and facilitating the smooth clearance of goods. You’ll work with commercial documents, classify goods for tariff purposes, and communicate with clients and government agencies to resolve entry issues. This is an on-site, in-person position where you’ll develop expertise in import procedures and trade compliance.
What you’ll do:
• Prepare and submit customs entries in accordance with all applicable regulations
• Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) for accuracy and completeness
• Classify goods using tariff schedules
• Ensure compliance with customs and government agency requirements
• Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve entry issues
• Monitor shipment status and ensure timely clearance
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes
• Stay up to date with changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements
Skills/background needed:
No prior experience required—full training will be provided. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn customs and import procedures. You should have:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines
• Great written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle discrepancies
• Interest in international trade and logistics operations
Experience with customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics is a bonus but not required. Any relevant background will be built upon during training.
