We’re looking for an entry-level writer to produce engaging news content across multiple platforms. You’ll research, report on, and write stories that inform and engage readers on topics that matter to your community.
What you’ll do:
• Write clear, accurate news stories for web and digital platforms• Research background information and gather facts from interviews, public records, and events• Review and edit content for grammar, style, and accuracy• Pitch story ideas to editors that are relevant to local audiences• Evaluate news leads and tips to develop compelling stories• Interact with audiences on social media• Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments at once• Revise work based on editorial feedback• Perform additional tasks as needed
Skills/background needed:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Ability to research thoroughly and verify information• Comfortable meeting deadlines and juggling multiple tasks• Proficiency with standard office tools and software• Flexibility to work varied hours as needed• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record• A background in journalism, communications, or related field is helpful but not required – full training will be provided
