Grant Writing Specialist – Entry Level (Remote)

About the role:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented writer to help researchers communicate their work clearly and compellingly. You’ll transform complex scientific ideas into accessible content for grant proposals, research summaries, and educational materials. This is a fully remote position where you’ll work with research teams, faculty, and administrators to support funding applications and research initiatives.

What you’ll do:

Write and edit scientific documents including research manuscripts, grant proposals, technical reports, abstracts, and supporting materials

Provide editorial support for grant applications, ensuring clarity, coherence, and compelling narrative structure for competitive submissions

Collaborate with researchers and faculty to gather information, clarify scientific concepts, and ensure content accuracy and consistency

Create educational and communication materials such as brochures, presentations, infographics, and web content to support research initiatives

Develop and maintain templates, style guides, and tools to enhance efficiency and consistency in proposal development

Participate in workshops and strategy meetings focused on proposal planning and professional development in scientific writing

Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Skills/background needed:

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or science communication (or equivalent experience)

Experience writing and editing scientific or technical documents such as grant proposals, research summaries, and technical reports

Ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, accessible language for different audiences

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to accuracy, grammar, and consistency

Strong organizational abilities and ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and document formatting tools

Working knowledge of graphic design tools such as Canva and PowerPoint

Ability to interact effectively with researchers, administrators, and cross-functional teams

Working knowledge of scientific publishing standards and grant writing conventions

Nice to have:

Previous experience working in a research support environment

Experience supporting large grant applications

Knowledge of artificial intelligence tools that enhance scientific writing and content generation

Working knowledge of reference management software

Advanced degree in a scientific discipline or related field
