The Role
We are seeking a Proposal Writer to support the preparation of research and innovation funding proposals. You will work with innovative companies to develop compelling, technically sound proposals for federal research and development funding programs.
This is a freelance, project-based opportunity. Assignments typically last between 4 and 12 weeks, giving you flexibility and the chance to work on diverse projects.
What You’ll Do
You will:
- Prepare research funding proposals and related documentation
- Work with technical teams to understand complex projects and translate them into compelling written proposals
- Research funding opportunities and eligibility requirements
- Edit and proofread proposals for clarity and impact
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather proposal information
- Organize and manage project timelines and deliverables
Skills and Background Needed
Essential:
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong research and analytical abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Desirable:
- University degree in a scientific, technical, engineering, or mathematics field
- Prior experience writing proposals, research reports, scientific papers, or technical documentation
- Familiarity with federal research funding programs and processes
No prior proposal writing experience is required. Full training and support will be provided. We welcome applications from entry-level candidates with strong writing skills and an interest in research and innovation.
Contract Details
