SEO Content Writer – Entry Level, Work From Home

About this opportunity

We’re looking for a content writer who understands search engine optimization and can write engaging web pages across different industries. You’ll create content that ranks well, converts readers, and works for diverse clients — from service businesses to professional firms. This is ongoing freelance work with steady volume and room to grow.

What you’ll do

Write SEO-optimized web pages: homepages, service pages, and location pages

Create both short-form and long-form content — concise, conversion-focused pages and in-depth blog posts and guides

Turn a content brief (target keyword, audience, key points) into copy that reads naturally and ranks well

Structure content with proper heading hierarchy and on-page SEO fundamentals

Adapt your voice to each client and industry — trustworthy for contractors, warm for healthcare, credible for professional services

Help develop content strategy — map topic clusters, plan editorial calendars, and identify content gaps to guide what each client should publish and in what order

Recommend what to create and why — connect content to search intent, the customer journey, and business goals

Interview clients to gather source material and pull out their expertise, story, and authentic voice

Research unfamiliar industries quickly and write about them with authority and accuracy

Write locally-relevant content without thin, templated pages

Draft meta titles, meta descriptions, and FAQ sections optimized for search features

Revise based on feedback and meet deadlines consistently

What we’re looking for

3+ years of experience in SEO content writing and content strategy development

Proven ability to plan content strategy — topic clusters, editorial calendars, and decisions about what to create and why

Solid understanding of local SEO: keyword intent, service and location page strategy, internal linking, and heading structure

Fluent with AI writing tools like ChatGPT and Claude — you use them to generate ideas and self-check faster, while applying your own judgment, fact-checking, and brand-voice editing

Ability to write convincingly across different industries and pick up new sectors quickly

Comfortable writing both short-form and long-form content — punchy homepages and organized, engaging guides

Clear, jargon-free writing; strong self-editing; excellent grammar

Reliable communicator who works well from briefs and meets deadlines

Comfortable interviewing clients over calls or video chats — able to ask sharp questions and translate what they say into compelling content

Strong keyword and topic research skills — you can build out a keyword plan for a client, not just write around a target provided to you

Nice to have

Experience writing across multiple industries

Understanding of accuracy and trust standards in regulated industries like healthcare and legal

Familiarity with schema and structured data concepts

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.

Contract length: Ongoing freelance work

Hours: Approximately 10–20 hours per week to start, with flexibility to grow

Location: Fully remote

What to expect

You’ll work fully remote and write in Google Docs. Content is handed off to our team for publishing on client websites. Projects and assignments are managed through a project tracking tool. All hours are tracked using time-tracking software. Invoicing is bi-weekly, and you can start immediately.

How to apply

Submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your experience in content writing. Include 2–3 writing samples — ideally web pages you’ve written that show your range across different industries or writing styles.
