Overview
We are seeking a creative Social Media Manager and Short-Form Video Editor to help manage and grow the digital presence of a content creator. You will combine creative instincts with organization, analytics, content strategy, editing, and day-to-day social media management.
The ideal candidate understands internet culture, short-form content, creator marketing, and current trends across platforms. You should be equally comfortable editing engaging video content, reviewing analytics, building a content calendar, and identifying what content should be created next.
You will take ownership of the creator’s social media presence and work proactively rather than waiting for constant direction. You will transform existing content libraries into strategic social media assets and bring structure and measurable improvement to the content operation.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management
Manage day-to-day content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Maintain consistent posting schedules and build weekly and monthly content calendars. Schedule, publish, and organize social content while ensuring captions, messaging, and visuals remain consistent with the creator’s identity. Manage comments and engage with the audience when appropriate. Adapt content appropriately for each platform instead of posting identical versions everywhere.
Short-Form Video Editing
Edit high-quality Instagram Reels, TikToks, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Turn longer content into multiple short-form assets. Identify the strongest moments in raw footage and create compelling opening hooks designed to stop scrolling. Use subtitles, pacing, visual effects, and other editing techniques when appropriate. Understand when a video needs heavy editing and when simple, organic editing performs better. Create multiple variations of promising content to test different approaches.
Content Strategy
Develop content strategies around key announcements, collaborations, and releases. Build content plans for different campaign phases. Identify recurring content series that can become recognizable parts of the creator’s presence. Balance promotional content with personality, storytelling, humor, lifestyle, behind-the-scenes content, and entertainment. Research successful content from similar creators and adjacent markets. Bring new ideas proactively and provide clear recommendations for what content should be created each week.
Trend and Market Research
Stay current with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook trends. Monitor trending sounds, formats, editing styles, and platform-native content. Track what leading creators are doing online and bring actionable ideas based on current internet culture. Understand the difference between blindly copying a trend and adapting it naturally to fit the creator’s voice.
Analytics and Performance Tracking
Track content performance across all major social platforms. Monitor metrics including views, watch time, engagement rate, follower growth, and other relevant indicators. Identify which hooks, topics, formats, and content categories perform best. Maintain an organized reporting system showing what is working and what needs improvement. Use analytics to influence future content decisions and establish repeatable content systems based on winning formats.
Content Organization and Systems
Maintain an organized digital content library, categorizing raw footage, completed videos, and posted content. Track where each video has been published and prevent duplicate posting or lost content opportunities. Keep the content calendar and production pipeline organized, managing deadlines and upcoming needs. Create efficient systems that allow existing content assets to be reused strategically.
Skills and Background Needed
Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for creators, entertainers, or personality-driven accounts. Strong short-form video editing ability and understanding of what makes content engaging (hooks, retention, pacing, storytelling). Experience using video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools. Strong organizational and file-management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong written English and caption-writing ability. Reliable communication and ability to work independently. Ability to take feedback without needing constant direction. Ability to explain your creative and strategic decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work directly with content creators or entertainers. Experience supporting content releases or major campaigns. Experience building content calendars. Familiarity with social media analytics dashboards. Experience tracking video performance metrics. Familiarity with project management tools such as Notion, Trello, or similar systems. Strong knowledge of Google Drive and cloud-based file organization. Graphic design or thumbnail creation experience. Long-form editing experience. Experience working with large libraries of raw content.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by the consistency and quality of content output, improvement in overall content quality, ability to identify strong moments from raw footage, growth in views and engagement, improvement in content organization and workflow, quality of content ideas, ability to recognize patterns in performance data, reliability and communication, and ability to develop repeatable systems instead of constantly starting from scratch.
