Contract length: Full Time, 12 months per year

Location: Local position available. Hybrid model – 2 days per week from home, 3 days on-site.

About the role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to build experience in social media management and communications. You’ll support the day-to-day management of social media channels through content creation, publishing, community engagement, and performance reporting. Working collaboratively with writers, designers, videographers, and team members, you’ll help tell authentic stories and connect with audiences online.

No prior social media experience is required – full training will be provided. If you’re passionate about storytelling, creative content, and building online communities, this role is for you.

What you’ll do:

Content Creation & Publishing• Execute the social media strategy and content calendar• Manage daily publishing of content across social media channels• Write engaging captions and adapt stories for social media audiences• Create, edit, and publish photos, videos, graphics, and other digital content• Provide on-site social media coverage of events as assignedCommunity Engagement• Monitor comments, messages, mentions, and tagged content• Respond to routine inquiries and escalate sensitive issues to leadership• Support positive audience engagement while maintaining brand voiceStudent Coordination• Coordinate with student content creators and ambassadors• Assign content opportunities and review submissions• Curate user-generated contentAnalytics & Reporting• Monitor social media trends and brand mentions• Flag emerging issues for review by leadership• Prepare regular reports on engagement, audience growth, and content performance• Recommend improvements based on analytics and platform trendsCollaboration• Work with team members to gather story ideas• Provide guidance on social media best practices• Maintain inventory of official social media accounts

Skills/background needed:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Strong storytelling, photography, and short-form video skills• Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube• Experience with Canva or similar creative tools (Adobe Creative Cloud experience is a bonus)• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines• Attention to detail and sound professional judgment• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team• Basic understanding of social media analytics and reporting• Commitment to accessible and inclusive communications• Natural aptitude for technology and comfort with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)• Problem-solving and analytical skills• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professional judgment• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately

Experience & Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, or a related field• One to three years of professional experience supporting or managing social media for an organization, nonprofit, agency, or brand• Experience creating engaging photo, video, and written content for social media• Portfolio of relevant work or professional social media examples preferredAlternatively, if you have strong self-taught experience with social media content creation and can demonstrate your skills through a portfolio, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t have a formal degree or traditional background.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with student employees, interns, or ambassadors• Familiarity with social media scheduling and management platforms• Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content• Valid driver’s license (may be required for event coverage)

What you’ll need:

Work schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (hours may vary based on operational needs, including occasional evenings and weekends for event coverage)
