Role: Sports Writer
Contract length: Full academic year, part time
Expected hours: 10–20 hours per week
Location: On-site at sports venues; hours vary including weekends and evenings
About the role:
We’re looking for an entry-level writer to help create content about athletic events and teams. You’ll research, interview, and write articles, game recaps, and player profiles. Your work will be published on the website and shared across other platforms. Full training will be provided—no prior sports writing experience is necessary.
What you’ll do:
• Gather information through research and interviews with athletes, coaches, and staff
• Write clear, engaging articles and announcements
• Post content to the website and social media
• Work some evening and weekend events
• Take on additional tasks as assigned
Skills/background needed:
• Excellent grammar and writing skills
• Ability to communicate well with different people
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfort learning new software and online tools
• Professional and courteous approach to your work
• Willingness to work weekends and weeknights
• Basic familiarity with social media posting is a plus
What you’ll gain:
