About this role
This is a fully remote position where you’ll create and maintain technical documentation, service guides, troubleshooting materials, and training content for automotive systems. You’ll work closely with engineering, product development, and field service teams to produce clear, accurate documentation that helps technicians understand complex vehicle systems.
What you’ll do
• Develop, review, and maintain service manuals, troubleshooting guides, repair procedures, and wiring schematics
• Research new and existing vehicle systems and engineering specifications to create accurate technical content
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technical documentation reflects current product designs and service requirements
• Create diagrams and illustrations for service training materials and troubleshooting guides
• Analyze field service data to identify common issues and develop effective troubleshooting procedures
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent, user-friendly, and meets established standards
Skills and background needed
• 2+ years of experience developing service manuals, troubleshooting guides, repair procedures, or similar technical documentation
• 3+ years of field experience or product development supporting electric vehicles or alternatively powered vehicles
• 10+ years of experience in automotive technical service operations, diagnostics, repair support, or technical problem-solving
• Strong understanding of electric vehicle systems, including batteries, charging systems, power electronics, and propulsion systems
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and network communications standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear documentation
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Experience with technical illustration software or design tools (a plus)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
