Technical Writer – Manufacturing Documentation

About this role

We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our on-site team. You’ll create clear, user-friendly procedures and training guides that help people understand how to work safely and effectively. You’ll work Monday through Friday, with possible occasional off-shift responsibilities.

In this role, you’ll learn manufacturing processes and collaborate with teams across the organisation, including safety, engineering, quality, and maintenance. You’ll observe operations, take notes and photos, and work with Subject Matter Experts to gather the information you need.

What you’ll do

• Observe processes and gather information from Subject Matter Experts to create accurate documentation

• Analyse information and produce high-quality, user-friendly procedures and training guides

• Follow and maintain current document standards

• Collaborate with other writers and teams to improve documentation quality and consistency

• Gather feedback from users to improve content and usability

• Edit documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency

• Problem-solve documentation issues using existing practices and procedures

• Audit document distribution and note any discrepancies

• Prioritise tasks flexibly with supervisor input to meet business objectives

• Promote a safe workplace culture for yourself and those around you

Skills and background needed

Essential:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of writing experience (or an Associate’s degree with 1 year of writing experience)

• Ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately

• Strong attention to detail – you ensure instructions are error-free

• Ability to break down complex concepts and organise information logically

• Comfortable learning quickly and understanding complex subject matter and new tools

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with diverse teams

• Time management skills to meet deadlines

• Accountability for follow-through and completion

• Willingness to use resources and ask questions to find answers

Preferred:

• Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field

• 2+ years of experience writing procedural documents

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
