The Role
We’re seeking a Technical Writer to develop and maintain IT policies, strategies, and governance documents. You’ll work with IT teams to gather information, create clear documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, and ensure all materials meet established standards and guidelines.
What You’ll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Write and maintain IT policies, procedures, and governance documents for various audiences
• Collaborate with IT departments and stakeholders to gather technical information and understand complex systems
• Create visual representations of workflows, timelines, and metrics using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Develop architecture diagrams, implementation guides, and security configuration documentation
• Review and edit documentation from team members to maintain consistency and quality
• Participate in video meetings and presentations to share documentation and updates
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies
• Support the development of training materials and awareness communications
• Contribute to project tracking and documentation using collaboration platforms
Skills/Background Needed
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum 4 years of experience writing IT policies, procedures, or technical documentation
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize complex information
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Familiarity with IT security concepts and best practices
• Comfortable learning and adapting to new tools and technologies
Preferred Experience
• Prior experience writing technical documentation in a government or defense environment
• Knowledge of IT security and compliance standards
• Experience with project tracking tools and collaboration platforms
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and principles
• Familiarity with Agile or iterative development practices
