About the Role:
We’re looking for an entry-level video content writer to join our remote team. You’ll produce engaging short-form and long-form video content designed for social and mobile platforms. This is a fully remote position with the flexibility to work from home, though occasional field assignments may be required during peak coverage periods.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in digital storytelling, video production, and multi-platform content creation. You’ll work independently, learning to pitch ideas, shoot, write, and edit content with speed and accuracy. We provide full training and support as you grow into this position.
What You’ll Do:
• Produce video content optimized for social and mobile platforms, focusing on strong storytelling and engagement
• Develop original story ideas aligned with daily content priorities
• Shoot, write, and edit video independently using industry-standard software, delivering both short and long-form pieces
• Work as a solo content creator during live events, capturing footage, conducting interviews, and delivering reports
• Turn quick video stories around under tight deadlines as well as fully produced packages
• Conduct interviews and create character-driven stories from the field
• Adapt content for multiple formats including vertical, square, and horizontal layouts
• Collaborate with producers and editors to refine content for performance and accuracy
• Maintain strong editorial standards and accuracy in all work
Skills/Background Needed:
• A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 years of experience as a content creator, video producer, or multimedia journalist (we welcome those just starting out)
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software
• Ability to shoot and edit video independently
• Experience creating content for digital and social platforms
• Strong visual storytelling skills and ability to capture compelling footage in real-time
• Comfortable working under pressure and meeting fast deadlines
• Clear, conversational writing style optimized for mobile viewing
• Valid driver’s license
• A portfolio or samples of your video work (indicating which pieces you shot, edited, and reported)
Nice to Have:
• Experience covering breaking news or weather events
• Familiarity with live reporting and live streaming tools
• Experience with drone footage or willingness to learn
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract Length: Full-time, ongoing
