About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Library Services Associate to join our library team. In this role, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment supporting library visitors and services across multiple locations. You’ll help customers find information and resources, assist with technology setup, manage lending equipment, and coordinate with student team members. This is a great entry-level opportunity to develop professional skills in customer service, research support, and library operations.
What You’ll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Customer Service & Research Support: Assist visitors in person, by phone, email, and online chat with library questions, resource location, technology setup, and material access. Answer questions about accounts, borrowing fees, and collections. Help customers understand the difference between primary and secondary research sources.
Technology & Equipment: Troubleshoot basic computer and printer problems. Support the equipment lending library by managing inventory, storage, and security. Help visitors use library technology and learn new software as it’s introduced.
Interlibrary Loans: Process requests for materials from other libraries and help customers access resources held elsewhere. Search library databases and systems to locate materials.
Facility Management: Help close the library at the end of shifts. Enforce library policies in a respectful way to maintain a positive study and collaboration environment.
Team Coordination: Work with student employees on various tasks. Contribute to team meetings and library improvement projects.

Essential:
– Excellent customer service skills and the ability to stay calm when dealing with difficult interactions- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal- Good judgment and problem-solving ability- Comfort with computers and willingness to learn new software and technology quickly- Ability to work independently and as part of a team- Good time management and organizational skills- Attention to detail and strong observation skills- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information respectfully
Nice to Have:
– Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel- Familiarity with library systems or online databases- Experience processing document requests or managing equipment- Experience working with student or part-time staff- Knowledge of copyright and lending practices
Qualifications Required
– Bachelor’s degree- Minimum 1 year of related experience (could include customer service, technical support, or information services)
Work Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Schedule varies by season. During academic year, evening shifts Sunday–Thursday (3:15 p.m.–12:15 a.m., including library closing). Summer schedule may differ. Flexibility to adjust as library needs change.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract Length: Full-time permanent
