Role: Junior Medical Writer
About the role:
This is an entry-level position for individuals looking to start their career in medical communications and scientific writing. You won’t need prior industry experience—instead, we’re looking for someone with a strong educational background in a relevant field and a genuine passion for translating complex scientific information into clear, engaging content.
You’ll receive comprehensive training, hands-on mentoring from experienced team members, and exposure to a wide range of projects and therapy areas. You’ll work across commercial, medical affairs, and publications work, learning on the job in a supportive environment.
As a junior medical writer, you’ll be curious, organized, and keen to ask questions. You’ll manage your time effectively, stay calm under pressure, and communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.
What you’ll do:
Technical Writing
Working closely with senior team members, you’ll develop content outlines and drafts for a variety of materials, including:
• Presentation slide decks
• Digital materials
• Scientific manuscripts and conference publications
• Meeting materials and supporting documents
You’ll ensure all written content is well-researched, technically accurate, and professionally presented. You’ll adapt your writing style for different audiences, meet project briefs and deadlines, and maintain quality standards. You’ll create visually clear PowerPoint presentations, welcome feedback, and incorporate revisions thoughtfully into your work.
Scientific Knowledge Development
You’ll build expertise in specific therapy areas through independent research and reading scientific literature. You’ll learn how the medical communications and pharmaceutical industries work, understand quality control processes, and develop the knowledge needed to create high-quality scientific content. You’ll ask questions proactively and take ownership of your learning.
Project Management
You’ll organize your workload across multiple projects, update your team on progress, meet deadlines, and communicate any challenges early. You’ll problem-solve independently where possible and reach out to senior colleagues when needed. You’ll collaborate with wider team members and build strong working relationships.
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in a science-related subject (e.g., life sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, biology)
• Writing experience gained through academic work, research projects, or other activities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning
• Curiosity and eagerness to develop scientific expertise across different areas
• No prior industry experience necessary—full training provided
