Proposal Writer – Entry Level (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and persuasive Proposal Writer to identify, develop, and secure external funding opportunities. This role involves researching, drafting, and submitting high-quality grant proposals to federal, state, and private philanthropic organizations.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders to align funding opportunities with organizational goals, strategic priorities, and community programmes. You’ll also support day-to-day operations as needed.

Core Responsibilities

Proposal Development & Writing

• Write, edit, and compile clear, persuasive grant applications, letters of intent, and project narratives that align with funder requirements
• Gather technical data, demographic information, budget details, and programme goals from staff to build comprehensive proposal packages
• Review all grant guidelines, submission requirements, and regulations thoroughly to ensure full compliance prior to submission
• Manage proposal timelines and ensure all milestones and final submissions are completed ahead of schedule

Research & Strategic Planning

• Proactively research and evaluate potential funding sources, including federal, state, corporate, and private foundations
• Match organizational priorities with available grant portfolios
• Track awarded grants by monitoring expenditures and timelines to ensure compliance with approved budgets
• Attend professional development sessions and networking opportunities to stay current with funding best practices

Administrative Support

• Assist with financial record-keeping and data entry using spreadsheet software
• Conduct routine financial reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Provide day-to-day administrative support as needed

Skills/background needed: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Education, Public Administration, or a closely related field preferred. We welcome candidates with 2+ years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, or fundraising, ideally in an educational or nonprofit setting. However, if you have strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, we encourage you to apply. Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, and online research databases is helpful. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and data presentation, are essential. Strong organizational and time-management abilities are required.

Contract length: Full-Time, 12-month position

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
