Job Summary
We’re looking for an entry-level journalist or news writer with curiosity, creativity, and strong communication skills. You’ll develop a nose for newsworthy stories and build genuine connections within your local community. No prior experience is required—we provide full training and support to help you succeed.
Responsibilities
• Identify newsworthy stories by attending local government meetings, speaking with residents, and staying informed on local events, businesses, and issues
• Interview relevant sources and collect quotes, facts, and data
• Collect and take photographs for stories
• Draft and proofread news articles for clarity and accuracy
• Publish articles on the website and social media platforms
• Build and maintain relationships with PR representatives, communications officers, residents, and community contributors
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full time
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and editing ability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for storytelling
• Basic photography skills or willingness to learn
• Familiarity with social media platforms
