We’re looking for an enthusiastic weather communicator to join our team. This is an on-site role based at our workplace, where you’ll work from our designated location on an ongoing basis.
You’ll be the voice of weather forecasting, telling compelling stories about weather conditions across multiple platforms with a focus on public safety. You’ll work closely with our weather team to deliver accurate, engaging forecasts both in the studio and in the field. This role involves constantly exploring fresh ways to present weather information and connect with audiences.
What you’ll be doing:
• Communicate weather forecasts and analysis across multiple platforms in a clear, engaging way
• Develop strong reporting, writing and interviewing skills
• Tell compelling stories during breaking weather coverage, both from the studio and in the field
• Collaborate with the weather team, producers and managers before, during, and after broadcasts
• Use social media actively to promote news and gather information
• Represent the workplace and participate in community events
• Work well under deadline pressure with flexible scheduling, including weekends, early mornings and holidays
Skills/background needed:
• Weather certification
• Ability to analyze and forecast weather information and identify significant atmospheric events
• Skill in using computer model data to produce accurate forecasts
• Experience producing weather graphics
• Experience anchoring weather segments and field reporting
• Bachelor’s degree
• Ability to work well under deadline pressure
• Schedule flexibility
Nice to have:
• Prior on-air experience in a major market
• Ability to shoot, edit, and publish content
• Experience with visual design and graphics production
• Bilingual abilities
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
