About This Role
We’re seeking a volunteer grant writer to help identify and pursue funding opportunities from private foundations and charitable funders. You’ll work alongside our development team to transform existing organisational materials into compelling, customised proposals that secure vital support.
This is not a position where you’ll build a grant programme from scratch. We have foundational grant materials already in place, including organisational background, programme narratives, statements of need, and outcomes data. Your role is to help adapt these resources for individual funders and opportunities.
What You’ll Do
• Research private and family foundation grant opportunities
• Review funder guidelines and assess alignment with our mission
• Prepare letters of inquiry, grant applications, and proposals
• Customise existing narratives to match funder priorities
• Gather and organise information for applications
• Maintain records of submissions, deadlines, and follow-up tasks
• Assist with grant reports and donor stewardship as needed
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure proposals accurately represent impact
Who You Are
You’re a strong writer who can communicate both mission and the practical case for philanthropic investment. Grant writing or nonprofit development experience is ideal, but we’ll also consider experienced professional writers who are willing to learn foundation grant writing. No prior grant experience is absolutely necessary—full training and guidance will be provided.
Time Commitment
Approximately 15–20 hours per month, with flexibility around grant deadlines and your availability.
