About the role
This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with a passion for nonprofit work and strong writing skills. You’ll play an important role in helping secure funding by writing compelling grant proposals, managing grant documentation, and supporting programme development. Your work will directly contribute to the organization’s mission through clear, persuasive proposal writing and careful project management.
You’ll report to senior leadership and work on-site at the corporate office. This role offers full training and support as you develop expertise in grant writing and fundraising.
What you’ll do
Grant Research & Development: Research and identify funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors. Maintain records of submission deadlines and track progress.
Proposal Writing & Submission: Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and supporting documents. Ensure all submissions meet funder requirements and compliance standards.
Budget Preparation & Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed grant budgets and financial reports in collaboration with finance and programme teams. Ensure accuracy and alignment with grant guidelines.
Grant Management & Reporting: Manage grant applications from start to finish, including post-award reporting. Keep organised documentation and ensure timely submission of required reports.
Collaboration & Programme Support: Work closely with programme staff to gather data, outcomes, and impact information for proposals and reports. Support strategic planning related to fundraising goals.
Funder Relations: Maintain ongoing communication with funders, ensuring timely reporting and compliance.
Skills/background needed:
Essential Writing & Communication Skills: Exceptional technical writing, editing, and proofreading abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Grant Writing Expertise: Experience in grant proposal writing, fundraising, and proposal development. Understanding of the grant lifecycle from research through reporting. Ability to tailor proposals to meet specific funder requirements.
Research & Strategic Planning: Strong research skills to identify and evaluate new funding opportunities. Knowledge of programme development and strategic planning processes. Ability to align funding strategies with organizational goals.
Financial & Budgeting Knowledge: Experience developing grant budgets and financial reports. Ability to understand and apply funding guidelines and compliance requirements.
Organisation & Time Management: Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently. Strong record-keeping and documentation management skills.
Collaboration & Professionalism: Ability to maintain professional working relationships with funders, staff, and leadership. Adaptable and responsive in fast-paced environments.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, or fundraising.
Experience preparing budgets and financial reports for grant applications.
Experience with contract management and compliance reporting is preferred.
