We’re looking for a Junior Technical Writer to join our engineering team! In this role, you’ll serve as the documentation specialist, translating complex system designs, configurations, and operational procedures into clear, accurate technical manuals and guides. You’ll work alongside systems engineers, ensuring every system is fully documented from concept through use.
This is a hands-on role focused on technical writing. You’ll learn the systems well enough to understand how they work, then capture that knowledge in documents that engineers, operators, and end users rely on every day.
What You’ll Be Doing
Author, edit, and maintain technical manuals, operator guides, administrator guides, and standard operating procedures for systems and cloud environments
Develop and maintain system design documents, architecture diagrams, and configuration guides in support of technical teams
Translate technical information into clear, standardized documentation suitable for review and approval by stakeholders
Develop installation guides, runbooks, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting guides to support day-to-day operations
Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and review workflows across the team
Participate in design reviews and change meetings to keep documentation current with system updates
Verify documented procedures to ensure technical accuracy
Manage documentation within approved repositories and systems
Skills/Background Needed
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; or relevant hands-on IT experience in lieu of a degree
Experience producing technical documentation for IT systems
Strong technical writing skills with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly for different audiences
Working knowledge of Linux environments, virtualization, cloud computing, and networking fundamentals
Experience creating diagrams using Microsoft Visio or similar tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar writing tools
Desired Skills
Familiarity with cloud environments
Experience with configuration management practices and tools
Experience with structured authoring or documentation tools
